Hidden Tips About Continental Grip

By Michael 0

Hammer, continental, shake hands, etc.. These are all terms we hear on the court but how do you really hold the grip continental? A tennis racquet has 8 bevels and for right handed players the pad of your index knuckle should be placed on bevel 2.

This is tennis terminology communicated worldwide but what about the rest of the hand and the pinky knuckle?

Continental Grip To Another Level:

Line up your right index knuckle on bevel 2. Now relax your hand a little and shake hands with the grip. Take a look at where your pinky is. It should be on bevel 3.

Reasoning:

This is very important to have the index knuckle on bevel 2 and pinky knuckle on bevel 3 for complete control, power, and maneuverability of the racquet.

Test it:

One way to test the grip is to hit some low touch volleys over the net and have the ball bounce 3 times before crossing the service line.

The 2,3 continental bevel combo is the way the pros hold it and the way to go!
